RACE DAY PROGRAM AGENDA:
Learn to master 3,400 pounds of racing ingenuity in a top shelf NASCAR Nextel Cup Series stock car with Randy Baker and SpeedTech Auto Racing Schools. To drive a race car at SpeedTech, one must first attend a brief yet informative 30-minute driver meeting. This mandatory safety orientation starts off the day for each racing program offered to emphasize safety issues, operating procedures and communication strategies. The only exception for missing this meeting is if you plan only to be a passenger under SpeedTech's "Hot Laps!" ride-along program.
After class, each student will take a track tour in a passenger vehicle to start learning the preferred racing groove. Then we'll pair up with an instructor for one-on-one instruction to drive three to five extra training laps in a 650+ horsepower, two-seat professional NASCAR stock car. After everyone is on the same page, students will be directed back to the pits to receive last minute instruction before the beginning of their solo sessions.
A suitable definition for a "Solo Lap" would be a lap completed after initial training, with other students on the track at the same time, without anyone else in the race car. However, students may request for an instructor to ride along during solo laps. Passing is allowed during solo laps, as there are no instructor-driven pace cars to follow.
Just like the Nextel Cup Series, SpeedTech offers both daylight and night time events under the lights. It’s a dramatic driving difference when night falls and drivers are given the “Summer Thunder” experience. The evening hours of 5 to 10 p.m. provide an unforgettable opportunity for participants to drive a race car under the high-powered track lighting. Drivers will find that there is a whole new look and feel — not to mention new challenges — to the track by night.
SpeedTech puts you in the leadership position throughout the training for an extreme race car driving experience. Click on a track logo below for more information on getting into a top shelf NASCAR Nextel Cup Race Car, or Craftsman Truck to learn how to reach speeds of up to 160 mph without following a pace car or having someone in the car with you, and passing is allowed on the track using the proper passing maneuvers.
